ID: 2534
Date Submitted: 4/12/2007
Breed: Dachshund (standard and miniature)
Date Purchased: 4/10/2007
Broker:  Unknown
Petshop:  Empire Pets
Details: Puppy seems healthy, but I was concerned that there were no USDA numbers for this puppy, and I thought it was required.  My neighbor said this may be from an illegal person.  I don't have papers, although they said that ACA papers would be given to me within 10 days.  I have a hand written shot record with the breeder's name and address on it.

Name: Mereda McGuire
Address: 13940 Pecan Ct
City: Boonville
State: MO

Reverse Addresss search for on shows the following:

Francis, G
13940 Pecan Ct
Boonville, MO 65233-2633
(660) 882-0006

I did a Google search for that phone number and found this ad:

Basset Hound Puppy 12 wks $50 660-882-0006 or 660-537-4292

A search of the second phone number reveals that it is a cell phone.

This breeder is unlicensed by the USDA.  The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires that all
breeders with more than 3 female dogs, who are selling puppies through wholesale channels (such at pet stores), must be licensed and inspected by the USDA.

Normally, I recommend waiting to file a complaint with USDA against an unlicensed breeder until it becomes evident that they are operating in violation of the law.  I will continue to monitor this breeder for further activity, and file a complaint, should I feel there is evidence of illegal activity.  If you would like to file a complaint now, to have this matter investigated by USDA, you can do so by following the instructions on this page:
