| Obviously, the health of your puppy is
very important to you and most pet shop customers have
many questions about this issue. PetShopPuppies.com
is not run by veterinarians and we are not attempting to
replace your veterinarian. We wish only to give you
additional information that we have gathered through
researching over 3000 pet shop puppies and conditions seen
regularly in these pups.
In all most cases of parasites and disease in dogs, the
dog's own immune system is it's best defense. When a
puppy is born obtains essential maternal antibodies from
the mother's milk. These immunities are often
compromised if the mother dog is:
- In poor health
- Very young
- Very old
- Not properly vaccinated
- Overly stressed
All of these conditions are seen often in the
commercial dog industry. In addition to the mother's
health and surroundings, it is just as important that the
puppy have a happy, healthy, upbringing. This is
seldom seen in the commercial dog industry. Sadly,
this often works to the benefit of the pet shop customers,
like yourself. In a commercial breeding operation,
only the strong survive. Whereas a reputable breeder
may take extra precautions to prevent accidents, and also
spend extra time with puppies that might not have survived
without human intervention, commercial breeders do not
normally take these precautions and the puppies simply do
not survive.
Below you will find links to pages about common
ailments seen in pet shop puppies. Please keep in
mind that this is not meant to take the place of your
vet's advise...it is merely intended to draw a picture of
your puppy's first eight weeks, which will better explain
how/why it may be sick.
